"I went to see Dr. Sanovich for a TJR consult and was beyond impressed. I live out of state and flew in for the appointment. Before I even arrived, I knew I was in great hands because of the clear, supportive, and timely communication from Emily, the surgery coordinator. "I'm sure the rest of the staff our amazing too, but Demona, Alex, Bradon, Angela, and Jennifer are exceptional in my case! I have been coming to Dallas surgical arts for about five months now. I live four hours away, but they are the only people close to me with the V bean laser treatment. Since I live four hours away, I always leave an hour early for traffic, but I often end up arriving 40-30 minutes early and they are always the best at accommodating me to help me get back on the road to home! Unfortunately, I accidentally left two hours early today and this staff made rearranging my trip so effortless. They work together as a team so well and are so kind. Damona was quick to respond when I texted telling her my situation and she rescheduled my two appointments beautifully. Brandon jumped in to help accommodate also to do my vbeam earlier. Key Takeaways & Insights: Impactful Patient Care - I had an initial consultation in 2022, but the timing was not right to pursue surgery because I was about to begin my MBA journey. Fast forward to 2024 when I graduated with my MBA and brought this conversation back up with Dr. Sanovich and his team - the team seamlessly picked up right where we left off. They treated me as an individual, not a case number, which made me feel much more comfortable in knowing I was making the right decision in pursuing DSA. Life-Changing Results - My decision for surgery stems from sports-related injuries resulting in a serious deviated septum as well as jaw misalignment (I got hit in the face by many soccer balls and elbows). Correcting my nose was essential because I could only breathe out of one nostril. Fixing my jaw was more cosmetic, but also essential as it was tied to lower self-confidence that was inhibiting me in my life, both personal and professional. As my recovery continues, I'm already seeing the positive impact of this surgery across both my personal and professional life. Thorough Preparation - The team's pre-surgery briefings were comprehensive and thoughtful, ensuring all my questions were answered. Knowing how big of an investment I was making (not only financial, but mental and cosmetic too), the team and their preparations reduced my anxiety weeks before the procedure. My Advice: (as a consumer, I am not a doctor, so take my words accordingly) 1. Financial Investment The Reality: The surgery is expensive, but it reflects a comprehensive package with months of pre-op planning, intense surgery, and dedicated post-op care. Tip: DSA partners with the Cherry payment system, making it easy to structure flexible, comfortable payment plans based on what works best for you. 2. Timeline & Recovery Management The Reality: Jaw surgery requires an intense recovery. Expect to be completely homebound for a solid two weeks, with a lengthy overall healing trajectory. So having someone available to nurse you, especially for the first two weeks after, is critical. Tip: Look into short-term disability or medical leave as your company allows, if not plan to use some PTO days accordingly. I recommend scheduling around a big holiday or a time period you know work will be quieter. I scheduled my surgery for early December. This worked for me because in my work, December is a slower month with holidays and colleagues already taking off, so it allowed me to recover in a more restful state both physically and mentally knowing that nothing critical at work was going on. 3. Dietary Adjustments The Reality: Your jaw will be banded shut for several days, restricting you to a liquid diet (i.e., for me a strict protein shake diet), which was challenging for me because I love food. Tip: No major tip here because it is what it is, but all I will say is mental framing is everything. Just stick to the fact that you'll be eating your favorite meal with your new beautiful face soon enough. 4. Fitness The Reality: Post-surgery, you are very limited when it comes to what you are allowed to do with fitness. Being an avid gym-goer and overall active human being, this was also incredibly challenging for me. Tip: Again, unfortunately no major tip here because it is what it is. But as soon as you are cleared to go for walks, just start there, then soon enough you will be back in the gym. Again, mental framing is key."
